Templated Out‐of‐Equilibrium Self‐Assembly of Branched Au Nanoshells (Small 12/2023)

چکیده
Branched Au Nanoshells Out-of-equilibrium self-assembly of metal nanoparticles achieving 3D structures with controlled morphology is still rare. In article number 2206712, Claudia Pigliacelli, Pierangelo Metrangolo, and co-workers adopt a peptide-gold superstructure as template to control the out-of-equilibrium nanoparticles, obtaining transient branched Au-nanoshell stabilized by surfactant. The nanoshell dismantles upon concentration gradient equilibration, leading disassembly regression template.

The Robust Assembly of Small Symmetric Nanoshells.
Highly symmetric nanoshells are found in many biological systems, such as clathrin cages and viral shells. Many studies have shown that symmetric shells appear in nature as a result of the free-energy minimization of a generic interaction between their constituent subunits. We examine the physical basis for the formation of symmetric shells, and by using a minimal model, demonstrate that these ...
متن کاملThermo-Mechanical Characterization of Skin Laser Soldering using Au Coated SiO2 Nanoshells
Gold coated silica core nanoparticles have an optical response dictated by the plasmon resonance. The wavelength at which the resonance occurs depends on the core and shell sizes, allowing nanoshells to be tailored for particular applications. The purposes of this study was to synthesize and use different concentration of gold nanoshells as exogenous material for skin tissue soldering and also ...
متن کاملThe Surprising in Vivo Instability of Near-IR-Absorbing Hollow Au–Ag Nanoshells
Photothermal ablation based on resonant illumination of near-infrared-absorbing noble metal nanoparticles that have accumulated in tumors is a highly promising cancer therapy, currently in multiple clinical trials. A crucial aspect of this therapy is the nanoparticle size for optimal tumor uptake. A class of nanoparticles known as hollow Au (or Au-Ag) nanoshells (HGNS) is appealing because near...
متن کاملTemplated Growth of Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering-Active Branched Gold Nanoparticles within Radial Mesoporous Silica Shells
Noble metal nanoparticles are widely used as probes or substrates for surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), due to their characteristic plasmon resonances in the visible and near-IR spectral ranges. Aiming at obtaining a versatile system with high SERS performance, we developed the synthesis of quasi-monodisperse, nonaggregated gold nanoparticles protected by radial mesoporous silica shells...
متن کاملAu Nanomatryoshkas as Efficient Near-Infrared Photothermal Transducers for Cancer Treatment: Benchmarking against Nanoshells
Au nanoparticles with plasmon resonances in the near-infrared (NIR) region of the spectrum efficiently convert light into heat, a property useful for the photothermal ablation of cancerous tumors subsequent to nanoparticle uptake at the tumor site. A critical aspect of this process is nanoparticle size, which influences both tumor uptake and photothermal efficiency. Here, we report a direct com...
